Although we were not in the motorhome, we were busy having fun.
Steve and Kelly were notified 3/21 that they had been matched for adoption. This had been about a nine month process. We were in Dollywood and were beyond excited!! By Monday March 24th, Steven and Kelly were in Arkansas to witness the birth of their baby girl. . We finished our doctor visits Friday, March 28, and left for Arkansas to greet our new granddaughter. We stayed in Arkansas for a week bonding with and helping Steve and Kelly take care of baby Ainsley. They are already accomplished and needed little help.
Nikki and family came to visit April 13 - 21. We visited Dollywood twice, saw the Rio 2 movie, and we of course made our mandatory visit to Chuck E. Cheese. During this time, Jason and Robert replaced brakes on the Cioci Honda Mini Van. The drum brakes were exceptionally hard since Honda gave us the wrong parts. Once we received replacement pads they were a snap. We also celebrated Easter together. The children colored eggs and participated in our yearly scavenger hut for the baskets from Nana and Papa! They had a lot of fun, and the Easter Bunny did find the kids in Tennessee!!
We met James and Linda in Asheville, NC. Linda came home with us and stayed April 24 - 30 and we really enjoyed having her with us. Linda went with Robert one day to fill the motorhome with fuel at Krogers while Brenda was getting her hair done. She was a great co-pilot for a short trip and did not get too excited. I think Brenda warned her about this adventure.
Our yearly time share was May 3 -10. We went to Williamsburg, VA with Linda and James. Although this was a trip we had done ten years ago, it was much more informative this time. We visited Jamestown, Williamsburg, and Yorktown. Each location has a state run park and a national park. There were a lot of areas we had never seen. The actual Jamestown settlement was open and the two museums were excellent.
Yorktown also had two museums and tours. It was amazing how close the Union and Confederate armies were located.
Memorial Day week (May 20-27), we traveled to Pine Acres Campground in Oakham, MA. This is something we started doing a year ago, and is a week spent with Nikki and Bob and families We stayed in a cabin for the Memorial Day event. Amanda Cioci and family also joined the group. We had great weather this year and enjoyed outdoor fires and s'mores with family. The grandchildren were always on their bikes! Our kids won the scavenger hunt, and we now know what things to have handy with us next year!
We spent a week June 11 - 15. in Anderson, SC, with Linda while James was on a golf trip to Myrtle Beach. We went to a movie while there, celebrated Kinsley's birthday, and went geocaching with Melinda. We met up with some of Linda's friends and it was great to meet them. Brenda has been playing Words With Friends with them a very long time. Nice to finally get to meet them. A great time was had by all!
We traveled to Mount Pleasant, SC June 19 - 25 to spend some great time with Ben and Lauren! Jeff and Rhonda went to New York for their 11th wedding anniversary. They had a great time and we did too. We went to parks, ate at Chic Fil-et, and enjoyed being with the kids, Grandchildren do keep you young! Ben and Papa had a Pet Smart visit also. It was the equivalent of a Mt Pleasant zoo. <G>
This was first time meeting the new family dog Bailey. Bailey was a good match for Snuggs. They started out as friends and played all the time.
Steven left for his tour of duty to South Korea on June 2nd. On July 5 - 9 we went to Virginia Beach, VA to visit Kelly, Jacob and Ainsley while she was visiting her family. Tim and Suzanne invited us to their home for dinner when we arrived. They had a great dinner that we all enjoyed. We got to see Kristen, David and Lucas. We went to the Virginia Marine Museum, and helped Kelly get Ainsley a SSN. We enjoyed holding Ainsley and playing with Jacob.
We have enjoyed the last four months and are ready for a motorhome trip! Our motorhome is calling us!
