8/29/2014 - 9/2/2014 Mom's Ashes Scattering

Robert and Brenda, Liz and Tommy, Mary and Jeff, Debbie and Austin, Matt, Beka and Addie met in Sevierville, TN for Labor Day weekend.  We rented a cabin "A View to Remember" for the weekend.  We arrived on Friday and left on Monday morning.  Mom was scattered in the mountains on Sunday afternoon near New Found Gap, TN.

Mom's Ashes Scattered

The group pulled over to a pull out near the top.  Each of us said some words about how mom had influenced our lives.  Then each of us poured a portion of her to the mountains.  Afterwards the sisters and Robert poured the remaining ashes out.

Although we came together for a weekend to spread ashes, I think Mom would have been proud of us being together and enjoying each others company.

Beka and Matt were very helpful in taking pictures.  Many memories would have faded in time without the pictures they took.

8/19/2014 - 8/24/2014 Columbus, OH and Lexington, KY

On August 19 we arrived at Delaware, OH just north of Columbus.  We had planned to visit Columbus Zoo and were near it.  The rain was heavy that day so we explored the area in our van.  We stayed in a nice campground, Cross Creek Camping Resort. http://www.alumcreek.com/cccr/  We met several fellow campers while there.  Our neighbor had just sold all his belongings and home in Columbus.  They had all their belongings in their motorhome.  Another couple was from nearby Kingston, TN.

Our next stop was north of Lexington, KY.  We stayed at Whispering Hills Campground.  http://www.whisperinghillsrv.com/

We explored the Lexington area and discovered there was more to see than expected.  We went to the Kentucky Horse Park.  http://kyhorsepark.com/  We had seen it from the interstate many times, but never explored.  We looked at their campground and decided we did not like it since it didn't have sewer connections.  There was a lot to do and see at the park.

We also visited a Kroger since I was planing to refill the diesel.  It was way too small and construction was imminence.  Pilot Fuel Station was good enough to us.

We arrived home August 24 with no surprises.  Our arrival was in preparation for doctor appointment on Monday and Mom's ashes being scattered.

8/16/2014 - 8/19/2014 Niagara Falls

Our next stop was at Niagara Falls, NY. We arrived on August 16.  We stayed at Niagara RV Campground.  http://www.goodsamclub.com/travel/campgroundsandrvparks/generalinfo.aspx?cgid=900000942
It was a quite campground and not too crowded.  As we checked in we went next door and booked a Niagara tour with Bedore Tours  https://www.facebook.com/Bedoretours?hc_location=timeline  We had decided there was more to see than we could travel in a short time.  The tour as fantastic.  We were picked up in the morning and let off late afternoon.  Our tour guide was exceptional (Rita).  She shuttled us into locations without lines to wait.  When the buses were in one location, we went to another location.  She told us where to be on the Maid of the Mist and precautions for rain ponchos.  She was a Niagara Falls life long resident, police chief wife, and City Counsel-mans niece.  As we finished we discovered she was the Niagara Princess in Geocaching.  So there was a lot to talk about.

After our tour day we explored Buffalo and surrounding area.  We went to the location of the restaurant for the first Buffalo Wings.  http://www.anchorbar.com/  Janine Landes (my sister) told us about it and recommended it for us.  The wings were the best and the cheese cake was delicious.  There is a lot of history associated with this place and numerous celebrities have visited (including us).
